Board 41 Officials Course Structure

  • The fee for the course will be $250 which will include all training and materials.

  • The course will follow a hybrid format with 5 prescheduled in person sessions of approximately 2 hours in length (Dates to be in July and August and provided once confirmed).

  • Each candidate will receive log in credentials to an online course, IAABOU, which will work alongside the classroom sessions. It will be the candidate’s responsibility to complete the modules related to each of their classroom sessions on their own.

  • Once the classroom part of the course is completed, the IAABOU final exam will be unlocked, and each candidate will need to pass a 50 question online examination.

  • Candidates that pass will then have 2 or 3 pre-scheduled on court training sessions they can attend. (Dates and locations will be provided once confirmed)

  • Candidates are not fully certified and deemed members of IAABO until they have passed both a written examination and have been deemed ready to officiate by completing a floor evaluation.

  • Candidates will be offered the opportunity to officiate at 2 or 3 pre-set summer/early fall intersquad sessions, where there will be “evaluators”. If any official is deemed ready to officiate at this point, they will fulfill their requirement and become a full member. If it is determined they need more seasoning, they will be given a set list of HS scrimmages they may attend in late November or early December, where we will have officials to offer guidance. We will then set up a scrimmage date where the remaining candidates can look to once again receive the necessary approval to complete the course. If any candidate fails to complete the course during the time frame that is laid out to them, they will need to retake the course.
